Desktop Publishing Self-Assessment Checklist

Teachers planning to take the  Teaching and Learning with Desktop Publishing or Learning Beyond the Basics Using Microsoft Word should have the following skills to be successful in these courses.

Prerequisite Skills:

Open new document
Save a document
Move cursor around a document
Edit, insert and delete text
Cut, copy and paste text
Move text within a document
Format text (font, size, style and color)
Format paragraphs (spacing, columns, bullets, tabs)
Use  tools (spelling, grammar, thesaurus)
Setup page ( margins and orientation)
Enhance document with page number and clip art
Print documents
